Obama and Asia-Pacific Leaders Vow to Work Toward Freer Trade
YOKOHAMA, Japan — President Obama and other Asia-Pacific leaders wrapped up a two-day meeting on Sunday with sweeping pledges to rectify global economic imbalances and move toward creating a regional free-trade zone, but with few concrete gains.
For Mr. Obama, it was also the end of a 10-day diplomatic and economic journey through Asia that yielded mixed results, ranging from his warm reception in India to criticism for failing to finalize a free-trade pact with South Korea. He spent his last day meeting with President Dmitri A. Medvedev of Russia and then visiting a colossal copper Buddha that he had seen as a 6-year-old, before heading for Washington to confront the lame-duck Congress on Monday.
Issuing what they called the “Yokohama Vision,” Mr. Obama and leaders of 20 other nations and territories in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum agreed to take steps toward creating a free-trade zone in the Asia-Pacific region, but set no timetable. In their joint declaration, the leaders cited as a possible starting point the Trans-Pacific Partnership, a free-trade agreement that currently includes four small nations — Brunei, Chile, New Zealand and Singapore — but that five other nations, including the United States, are in talks to join.
The leaders, whose nations account for more than half of global economic activity, also agreed to remove protectionist measures put in place during the current global economic crisis and to avoid sudden, sharp moves in foreign exchange markets.
In Sunday’s meeting with Mr. Medvedev, Mr. Obama told him that his “top priority” on foreign policy for the Congressional session is ratification of the two countries’ new arms control treaty, which is stalled in the Senate.
The president also told the Russian leader that he was committed to lifting cold war-era trade restrictions, a move that would allow Russia to join the World Trade Organization. Senior American officials said afterward that the private meeting touched on a range of issues, from Afghanistan to human rights. Mr. Obama told Mr. Medvedev that he was “very pleased” with the Russian leader’s “strong” statement condemning the beating of a journalist in Moscow. The two leaders will meet again this week at the NATO summit meeting in Lisbon, and Mr. Obama told Mr. Medvedev that he wanted talk further about Afghanistan and missile defense.
After leaving Yokohama, the president flew by helicopter to Kamakura, the site of Kamakura Daibutsu, or the Great Buddha of Kamakura. The giant statue, which experts believe dates to 1252, has 656 coils of hair and weighs 121 tons. “It is wonderful to return to this great treasure of Japanese culture,” he wrote in the guest book. “Its beauty has stayed with me for many years.”

それどころかＡＰＥＣでホストを務めたはずの菅総理のことがなにも書いていません。

オバマ大統領と菅総理の会談についてニューヨーカーの関心は鎌倉大仏以下のだったと言うことなんでしょう。
日曜日に行われたオバマ・メドベージェフ会談でオバマ大統領は4月調印した新戦略核兵器削減条約（新ＳＴＡＲＴ）の批准を外交のトップ・プライオリティと述べた。同条約の批准については上院で3分の2の賛成を得る必要があるからオバマ外交の正念場である、などしっかり書かれています。
オバマ大統領はメドベージェフ大統領に冷戦時代の貿易制限を廃止しロシアがＷＴＯに参加する動きを容認するだろうとも述べた。またその後のプライベート・ミーティングではアフガニスタン問題から人権問題まで広範な問題が論じられた、など詳しく報道されています。
ＴＰＰについては、ブルネイ、チリ、ニュージーランド、シンガポールで締結された自由貿易協定に米国を含む5カ国が参加を表明したと述べています。
ＪＡＰＡＮはどこにも書かれていません。参加を表明していないのだからでなくてあたり前か（爆）。
読んでいて、恥ずかしくなってきた、横浜で行われた会議ですよねと。
ロシアとの親密化を図るアメリカが、北方領土問題で真剣に日本を擁護するとは考え難い。ＴＰＰ参加問題にしても早々に態度を表明しないと参加希望各国から日本は相手にしないでおこうとなりかねない。
貿易立国の日本が世界の貿易から外されれば、だれが外貨を稼ぐのか？日本の大企業は海外へ工場を持って行くしか無くなるのが目に見えます。
海外では日本のことは鎌倉大仏しかニュースにならなかった。
テレビでは鎌倉で抹茶アイスを舐めているオバマ大統領が大写しになっていた。
オバマ大統領が舐めてるのは抹茶アイスだけではなく、日本の政治も舐めていると思えました。
